Outback Pub the Den Outback

After a long day on the road from Cairns this hotel and camping ground was a welcome place to stay, especially with well needed power for me to charge the battery in my camper trailer, not to mention a hot shower and a good meal. This would be the last civilised place I would stay at before I drove all the way to Cape York.  On paper not far but I decided to travel on the Old Telegraph Track (4wd only) this would take over a week to travel the 800 or so kilometres.

I would rate the Cape York Telegraph Track which I traveled early in the 2010 season as the most fun four wheel driving trip I have ever had.

Just South of Cooktown (Named after Australia’s discover Captain James Cook) lies a typical Outback Pub, the Lions Den Pub (Hotel). Which was established in 1875  by Jack Ross from Wales.  The Pub was named after a local Tin Mine.
