The man from snowy river high Country Cattleman’s hut.

The Man From Snowy River. Made Famous by the move of the same name made back in the early 1980’s this hut is not the original one used in the move. The original hut was dismantled after making of the movie but later re instated only to burn down get replaced and burn down again. To the best of my recollection this is hut number 3.

I started coming to this hut in the 1990’s when I would ski up Mt Stirling (opposite Mt Buller in Victoria) then ski across and down to this hut, a very hard long day on cross country skis with a heavy pack. In recent Times I have mountain biked to the hut and even used a 4wd, though I think the hut looks it best in the winter light, so skiing is my choice of transport. Horse tours of the high country are available  and if you can ride or are willing  to try this would be the best way to travel across this part of  the world. These tours usually stop for lunch or camp at the man from snowy river hut. It overs shelter as well as toilets.
